Nashville Civic Design Center begins preparation for PARK(ing) Day 2018
Nashville, Tennessee – (September 1, 2018) Nashville Civic Design Center, a nonprofit organization, is hosting its annual PARK(ing) Day event on Sept. 21, 2018 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. throughout downtown Nashville.
This event is free and open to the public, stretching across various locations near downtown.
PARK(ing) Day is an event focused on transforming various metered parking spots into temporary public spaces. Members of the community, activists, and artists collaborate together in completing this temporary and innovative transformation.
Parking spaces must be reserved in advance through the Nashville Civic Design Center prior to the event. Individuals interested in reserving a space will need to email firstname.lastname@example.org with the location of the parking space.
The mission behind this event is to bring awareness to the need for more urban open space and developing the knowledge on how to use these open spaces to improve urban human habits in Nashville and also all over the world, according to the Nashville Civic Design Center.
PARK(ing) Day began in 2005 in San Francisco by Rebar, a design and art studio based on California. After the positive feedback and recognition, many other parts of the world adopted the idea.
This event is internationally recognized, obtains an empowering message, and is fun for everyone!
